Welcome to the Affordable Again program!
The goal of this joint program from the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS®, the Blue Ridge Home Builders Association, and the Piedmont Housing Alliance is simple: to educate first-time homebuyers, their REALTORS®, and other about what opportunities exist in the current market that may help them achieve the dream of home ownership.
How does Affordable Again work?
There will be a series of FREE Affordable Again workshops scheduled during May and June 2008. These workshops will educate the public on the ins and outs of buying a home: how to understand your credit report, how to know if you’re financially ready, what to look for in a home, and much more. The courses will be taught by qualified professionals with years of experience in the lending, real estate, and consumer counseling industries.
Also in May and June, local REALTORS® will be encouraged to participate in Affordable Again Open House Weekends, where houses listed for under $250,000 will be open across the region. At both the workshops and the open houses, those who attend will be eligible for entry into the drawing for a Grand Prize, which will be awarded on August 6th, 2008.
Finally, from May 1st through July 6th, retailers from around the area will be offering discounts on home-related products and services to Affordable Again attendees. Savings certificates will be available at the Workshops and Open Houses and in copies of the Real Estate Weekly. A list of participating retailers will be maintained on this site.
